Description
When I got married one of my mom's close friends, Ellen Delaney, compiled a cookbook from close friends and relatives both from Jesse's and my side. Each entry she typed up and put in a homemade book. These were very helpful when I first started cooking, and they were so much fun just to look through and see what everyone contributed.
I have tried many of the recipes and have found most of them to be ones that I try over and over. Magic Cookie Bars are a fun treat that are so easy to make. They can also be changed to your liking and are great for holidays. I added some white chocolate chips to the recipe to give it a little color contrast. Peanut butter chips or butterscotch would also make a great addition. Be creative and enjoy!!

My family has always loved this dessert recipe (we've always called them "Hello Dollys" which isn't as descriptive as "Magic Cookie Bars") but we add the can of sweetened condensed milk at the end. Does it make a difference in taste/appearance/etc.?

Hi Honour,
However you layer the ingredients it turns out the same, tasting great! I layered them different than the original recipe and mine turned great.
