Salady Voankazo

Salady Voankazo

Ingredients

  • 1 cup pineapple (fresh or canned)
  • 1 cup oranges, peeled
  • 1 cup cantaloupe
  • 1 cup strawberries
  • 1/2 cup water (or left over pineapple juice)

Directions

Before blending chill all of the ingredients in the refrigerator. This will make the smoothie more refreshing!

In a blender combine all of the ingredients. Blend until smooth and all of the chunks or fruit are well blended. Serve cold in a large glass. A very healthy end to any meal or beginning meal to start off your day.

Description

Salady Voankazo is a recipe from the island of Madagascar, right off the coast of Africa. I teach toddlers and for the last few weeks we have been "traveling" around the world and stopping at different countries along the way to experience part of each unique culture. This past week we visited Madagascar where we tried some of the native cuisine. Salady Voankazo is a fruit dish that is served for dessert. We changed the recipe a bit so that toddlers would enjoy it, but we kept the ingredients the same. This would be served as a dessert and they cook all the fruit together making a fruit compote type of dish. They loved it and I think you will as well!!
